Where can I find an INDEN-YA directly managed store?
We have directly managed stores in four locations: the Main Store in Kofu City, Yamanashi Prefecture; the Aoyama Store in Minato Ward, Tokyo; the Shinsaibashi Store in Chuo Ward, Osaka City; and the Nagoya-Misono Store in Naka Ward, Nagoya City. What are the business hours for your directly managed stores?
INDEN-YA directly managed stores are open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. They are open year-round except for the Japanese New Year holiday period.
Which payment methods are accepted at INDEN-YA directly managed stores?
You may pay using cash, credit card or eligible e-money methods.
Is tax-free shopping available?
Yes, purchases made at directly managed stores are eligible to consumption tax exemption. Bring your passport with you to complete the tax refund procedures.
※Please note that the name shown on your passport must match the cardholder name on your credit card (or other payment method) in order to complete these procedures.
Can purchased products be delivered to overseas locations?
Unfortunately, we do not ship products to overseas locations, nor do we offer online purchases for overseas customers. We apologize for the inconvenience.
Are your facilities wheelchair accessible? And may I bring an assistance dog (guide dog) with me?
Yes, our stores are wheelchair accessible, and guide dogs and other assistance dogs are welcome. All of our stores are barrier free, including our restrooms. The Main Store has dedicated accessible parking. Locations with more than one floor—the Aoyama Store, Main Store and Inden Museum—are equipped with elevators. Please ask a staff member if you require assistance.
May I take photographs or videos while in one of your stores? And is uploading these photographs/videos to social media allowed?
As long as you adhere to the following rules, photography and uploading to social media are permitted:
  • ・Inform a staff member before taking photos/videos.
  • ・Respect the privacy of other customers and staff members, and avoid photographing copyrighted materials.
  • ・Do not use a tripod or similar when shooting photos/videos.
  • ・Refrain from doing anything that may disturb or negatively affect the experiences of other customers, such as taking large group photos or making excessive noise.
  • ・Stop photographing immediately if the staff determines that your behavior is dangerous.
  • ・For photos/videos taken for any purpose accept personal use, such as commercial photography or media-use footage, you must apply and receive permission in advance from an INDEN-YA public relations liaison.
  • ・Certain products may not be photographed; our staff will explain in advance which products are off-limits
Does the lacquer used on INDEN products have any special usage or care requirements?
Yes. Please be aware of the following:
  • ・Exposure of lacquer to sunlight or similar may cause its luster to deteriorate.
  • ・Lacquer may crack or peel off through product use.
  • ・Because the lacquer on our products is completely dried prior to sale, there is little possibility of it causing skin rash. However, rashes known to develop in extremely rare cases. If you develop a skin rash, stop using the product immediately and seek medical assistance.
  • ・Lacquer may become more transparent and/or experience color changes over time.
Does deerskin leather have any special characteristics? And are there any special usage or care requirements?
Yes. Please be aware of the following:
  • ・Deerskin may have marks remaining from antler butting and similar by the animals. However, this is not considered a negative because it serves as proof that the material is completely natural.
  • ・Each cut of deerskin has unique qualities. As a result, dyeing results vary slightly from piece to piece, and localized color inconsistencies may be present on a single cut of deerskin.
  • During use, the outer surface of the deerskin leather is subject to damage through scraping.
  • ・Exposing deerskin to natural or artificial light may result in color changes and/or fading.
  • ・In order to preserve the inherent qualities of the leather, we use no dye fixative in our products. Be aware that sweat exposure, rain exposure and rubbing may cause product dye to stain your clothing.
Do your products have any special usage or care precautions?
If the product becomes wet, refrain from rubbing or wiping it by hand. Use a dry cloth to gently dab off the moisture, then leave it to dry in a shaded location. Refrain from using ligroin/benzine, any cleaning product, or wax to clean your product or add sheen.
Can I request maintenance and repair services for my purchased INDEN product?
Yes, you may bring your product for maintenance or repairs at the directly managed store where you purchased it.
However, these services are only available for products deemed eligible by the store staff.
